The Associations
MozaiQ LGBT (Bucharest) is a community based organisation tailored to LGBTQIA+ persons in Romania. MozaiQ aims to develop the LGBTQIA+ community within Romania through the use of solidarity and reciprocal trust, produced through social activities, a presence on the alternative cultural scene, as well as devoting particular attention to distinct groups within the community, whether it is queer rroma persons, trans individuals, HIV+ persons, sexual workers, individuals with different disabilities or any LGBTQIA+ persons that find themselves in poor socio-economic situations, irregardless of their age. Our main purpose is the consolidation, support and representation of the unique groups that make up the LGBTQIA+ community (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual) of Romania via programmes moulded to their needs.
Pride Romania (Cluj Napoca) is an LGBTQ+ organisation based in Cluj-Napoca that recently changed its statute from an informal group to a non-profit organisation, registered legally as of February, 2018, thus assuming its purpose of promoting human rights, respecting diversity, ensuring social inclusion and the protection of persons that belong to vulnerable categories, as well as being opposed to discriminatory behaviours of any kind within civil society. As prime aim, Pride Romania wishes to create a favourable social context that makes possible the open assertion of the collective and individual identities of the LGBTQIA+ members at a local, national and international level, to promote social equity and to curb all forms of discrimination, hate speech and violence based on belonging to a vulnerable category, as well as the promotion of a culture of solidarity with LGBTQIA+ persons and with those that are members of other vulnerable groups, through the creation of services that account for their needs.
Identity.Education (Timișoara) was born out of a need to have formal representation of the local LGBTQIA+ community in Timișoara, as well as the wish to create artistic and cultural events about the community, for the community and its allies. We have formed ourselves out of the wish to create campaigns and events to bring about awareness and education of all on subjects pertaining to LGBTQIA+ topics and which concern the entire population of the city. As such, Andrei R[dulescu, alongside his parents, established Identity.Education in 2018, being, as of now, the only such organisation in Western Romania. The purpose of Identity.Education is to promote LGBTQ+ minorities in Romania through the use of measures that support and promote diversity, offering opportunities for development by organising and producing educational, cultural and artistic events.
